Child Care Center Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers of America seeks enthusiastic, interested and knowledgeable individuals to volunteer in the following capacities. If you are ready to become engaged in an organization committed to nurturing children and families, please contact Nicole Brown at (585) 647-1150.
Adopted Grandparent
Provide interaction and attention to our students as a volunteer adopted grandparent. Rock and play with babies, sing and dance with toddlers, read and build with preschoolers or assist school age children with homework. You will work with a specific child, group of children or classroom. All they need is to have love they want to share.
School Age Accelerated Reader Coach
Assist children in our Accelerated Reader Program. This national program is proven to improve reading scores. The program works by having children read books and then take a test on the computer to measure their comprehension. The Accelerated Reader Coach would work with individual or small groups of children to choose books, read books and take the tests.

Sign Language
Are you able to share your time and talent teaching our infant-toddler staff and children how to communicate in sign language? The ideal method would be for the volunteer to sign songs and/or books at Circle Time, so that staff and children could learn in a natural manner. Additional teaching of staff through workshops or other means would also be helpful.
