How Recycling Helps
Volunteers of America encourages self-reliance in those we serve and our agency strives for self-sufficiency as well. One way we work to achieve this goal is through our Retail and Recycling Operations.
By reselling donated items at our retail centers Volunteers of America not only keeps 400,000 pounds of textiles, cardboard, and metals out of area landfills each year - we generate income that provides funding needed to support our human service programs.
Don't throw away your usable clothing and household items - donate them to Volunteers of America!
What Happens to Your Donation?
Donated items are offered for sale at a reasonable value at Volunteers of America’s Retail Centers or given to those in need.
Clothing and household items are sold in our retail centers to help support many of the human services programs run by Volunteers of America.
Items that are not sold within 30 days are packaged and shipped to those in need in third world countries.
Please, help keep our disposal costs down by donating only usable goods.
Volunteers of America also accepts vehicle donations.
